Americans have been involved with Seeds of Peace from its inception in 1993, taking part in the Middle East dialogue program at the Camp in Maine and remaining involved in programs at home and abroad.
In 2000, Seeds of Peace adapted this internationally-recognized conflict transformation and youth leadership program to launch its first US-focused initiative.
Today, we have two distinct tracks for participating in Seeds of Peace’s United States program: by either joining the American/UK Delegation to Camp for the international session, focusing on the conflicts in the Middle East and South Asia, or by joining a delegation from New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Syracuse, or Maine for the US Session, focusing on issues here in the United States.
Following Camp, Seeds return home and actively translate their experiences back to their schools and communities. Year-round local activities further empower students with the relationships, nuanced understanding, skills and influence needed to develop as leaders and create positive change.
Recognizing that we live in an increasingly interconnected world, these dynamic activities bridge the two tracks from Camp, helping Seeds who participate in the international session root their experience in their home communities, while providing opportunities to engage with and connect to the conflicts in the Middle East and South Asia for those Seeds who participate in our US session.

“People are coming to the realization that this stuff doesn’t just happen all over the other side of the world. It’s happening here.” — Matt (Maine Seed).
