Sam Frieder

Sam is the Managing Partner of Kohlberg & Co. and a member of the Investment Committee. He joined the Firm in 1989, was made a Partner in 1995 and named Managing Partner in 2006. Kohlberg & Company is a leading private equity firm with over 30 years of successful experience executing transformational strategies enabling middle market companies to enhance business efficiency, breadth, growth and scale. Since the inception in 1987, Kohlberg has organized nine private equity funds with aggregate commitments of $11 billion.

Sam oversees all aspects of the firm’s investment activities, portfolio company initiatives, personnel decisions and other internal operational and administrative matters. In addition, Sam sits on the board of directors of each of the firm’s portfolio companies.

Sam received an A.B. (Government) from Harvard College. He is married to Wendy and they have three children, two of whom are American Seeds. His daughter, Natalie, is a member of the Seeds of Peace Alumni Young Professionals Committee.
