2021 Kids4Peace Virtual Middle School Camp details
Grade: Current 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders
Location: Anywhere! This is a virtual program.
Dates: July 19-30, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pacific / 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern
Each day will include three total hours of programming with breaks! On our non-sessions days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) we will have a short challenge that participants are encouraged to complete that helps us to learn about our passions and get involved in our communities.
Description: Come together with youth from different communities across the United States for two weeks of building new friendships. Together, we will discuss and explore many different issues and identities including race, religion, culture, and ideology. We will have the opportunity to share and learn from our differences, and use our wisdom and experiences in ways that will unite us instead of divide us. As we explore and discover the things that we are passionate about in our world, we will also develop skills for taking action for change. As we engage in deep conversation and dialogue, we will also practice skills to be a youth leader for justice and inclusion in our communities and lives. All of this while having fun, playing games, and building a nationwide community of peace builders!
Example Activities:
- Religion 101: Touring the practices of religious cultures around the world
- Listen Up!: Listening for Understanding
- What makes you angry? Exploring our passions for building justice and peace
- Uncomfortable: digging into identity and intersectionality
- Storytelling: Articulating our interests, hopes, fears, and dreams
