Dear Seeds,
It has been almost three decades since we first came together as teenagers at a summer camp in Maine.
A lot has changed since then—and in many of the places we live, the situation has not improved.
With Seeds of Peace’s 30th anniversary in mind, a group of us have come together believing that the relationships we made, the experiences we had together, and the life and career choices we made following them can and do hold real power. We are no longer kids; many of us are engaged in political or social change and/or have built careers and networks that, together, could help to make an even greater difference in our communities’ lives.
We want to organize the collective power we know exists in this community and put it to great use.
We are therefore pleased to announce this initiative: if you have an idea or project that you think we as a Seeds community can co-create for the betterment of our communities, the region, or the world, this is for you.
Some ideas that have already been suggested include: raising support for known NGOs that are proactive in the Seeds area of focus; exploring the foundation of new cross-border political parties; organizing protests/demonstrations; writing joint political op-eds and/or research papers; popular music/arts projects to shift culture and public opinion; informal negotiation roundtables; television and web content or podcast; a Seeds think-tank; media campaigns.
Submission guidelines
- Your idea is related to any element of economic, social, political, or cultural change. It is an idea that you believe the Seeds adult network can contribute to, push forward, and materialize.
- Your idea can be brand new or fully developed. It can be something already in motion that just needs an extra boost of support, or the spark of an idea you would like to move forward. In order to apply, you only need to propose a general sense of what you would like to do which can then be co-built with other Seeds.
- Your pitch does not need to be cross-border. It can aim to impact and/or involve only people in your community.
- If you have more than one idea, you may submit multiple times (a new form for each idea).
- Note this is open only to Seeds who attended Camp from 1993-1999 as part of a Middle East delegation for right now.
If you have an idea that you would like to advance in co-creation with the Seeds network, please submit your pitch through the form below—the priority deadline is Saturday, June 3, and submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Depending on the number of pitches, we will then either hold an online, live pitch event, or find other ways to bring your ideas to the rest of the Seeds.
If you don’t have an idea to pitch, but want to hear ideas from other Seeds and possibly join or support their projects, you may indicate your interest on the same form.
With solidarity and hope,
Seeds from 1993 to 1995
