Save a Child’s Heart

Pairs of Palestinian and Israeli Seeds make weekly visits to the pediatric cardiology department of the Wolfson Hospital in Holon, where young patients from the Middle East and Africa receive emergency heart surgery.

The visits, which have been taking place since 2010, are coordinated with the Save a Child’s Heart non-profit and are funded by the European Union. During their day-long visits, Seeds work with the patients, their families, and hospital staff, providing translation services and fun activities.

The program was designed not only to assist Arab and African families visiting the hospital and provide them with much-needed attention but also, at the same time, to strengthen cooperation and channels of communication between Palestinian and Israeli youth. For many Seeds, this is a unique opportunity to be involved in their local communities alongside each other.

Over 200 Israeli and Palestinian Seeds have volunteered at least once since 2010. Save a Child’s Heart is an Tel-Aviv-based international humanitarian project whose mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease and to create centers of competence in these countries.
