James Erwin
Chair Jim Erwin is a partner at Pierce Atwood and leads the firm’s Employment Group. He has extensive state and federal litigation experience in a wide range of substantive areas at the trial, appellate, administrative and arbitration levels.
His practice involves the defense at agencies and in court of all types of employment claims. He also advocates for employers before the Maine State Legislature and administrative agencies on selected, important issues of public policy. Before joining Pierce Atwood, he served for five years as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maine, prosecuting homicides statewide.
Jim is a member of the University of Maine System Board of Trustees and the Boy Scouts of America Pine Tree Council Executive Board. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Jim previously served as a member of the Maine Human Rights Commission, Maine’s Fair Employment Practice commission.
He has a B.A from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
He is the father of two American Delegation Seeds, Jessie (Camp 2002-2003, Counselor 2005-2009) and Sarah (Camp 2006, 2008, Counselor 2011-2013).
