Sarah started with Seeds of Peace in 2006 when she was part of the American Delegation to Camp. After her empowering and transformative three and a half week experience in Maine, Sarah knew she had found her path to building peace and returned to Camp as a counselor in 2010 and again in 2011.

Combining her love and passion for the Seeds of Peace Camp and her gratitude to the American Seeds Program, Sarah started working for Seeds of Peace full time in 2012 as Manager of US-Based Programs.

While majoring in Political Science and Religion at Swarthmore College, Sarah spent a semester abroad in Northern Ireland, studying at the University of Ulster and interning with three peace and community development organizations in Derry/Londonderry.

Modeling her time in Northern Ireland to her summer spent at Seeds, Sarah learned about the history, culture, and peace process of Northern Ireland from the ground up: by listening—with open ears, an open mind, and an open heart—to individuals who not only lived through the conflict, but who are actively working to resolve it and build a shared, peaceful future for all of Northern Ireland.

After graduating from Swarthmore College in May 2011, Sarah moved to Jerusalem for two months to travel the region, see all of her Seeds, and work on post-Camp regional programming.

“Seeds of Peace is not just a three and a half week summer camp. It is a way of life. It is a way of looking at the world and its problems and saying, ‘Yes, I can work to change this, I can make this better, we can make a difference.’ I have no doubt that my Seeds will be the difference-makers and leaders of their communities—and that gives me so much hope for the future.”
