Seeds of Peace GATHER Fellow, 2020

Empowering Afghan youth via inventive, low-cost, and impactful projects.

How have you impacted your community?

I am the Founder of Baale Parwaz, a library and resource center that provides carefully curated books, supplemental classes, educational resources, economic opportunities, and above all, a safe haven for girls and women of Afghanistan. Baale Parwaz is located in a public school in Kabul and is officially recognized by the Afghan Ministry of Education. It serves hundreds of students, teachers, and community members on a daily basis.

Currently, I am developing a program that provides micro-grants for inventive, low-cost, and impactful youth-led projects in Afghanistan. This initiative aims to build analytical thinking in adolescents and enable them to create positive and sustainable change in their communities.

I hold a BA in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College and will be attending the Stanford Graduate School of Education in the Fall of 2020.
