Seeds of Peace

Sports and Arts

Sports teach the values of teamwork, respect, and leadership—concepts at the very foundation of the Seeds of Peace program. Similarly, the arts and drama programs allow for creative expression on collaborative projects. Campers work together to create sculptures, drawings, songs and plays that reflect the shared experience through the creative process.

Color Games

Color Games, the Seeds of Peace Camp Olympics, is the culminating event at the end of Camp every session. During this time, Camp is divided into two teams that compete in every Camp activity. These activities range from sports and fine art to music, drama and even special activities like cooking and computer contests.

Though this is an intensely competitive event, it also encourages a similarly intense cooperative spirit that rises above ethnic and national divides. It thus serves as an important tool to explore personal and group identity, while helping to further solidify friendships that have formed at Camp. View a Color Games slide show.

Religious Services

Fridays include both Muslim and Jewish Services, which are open to all campers to attend. In this way, the campers and Seeds of Peace staff have the opportunity to learn about one another’s religion and traditions first hand. Christian services are conducted on Sunday mornings. Additionally, Hindu services are held once a session.

Culture Night

On special nights during each session, campers share their cultural heritage and traditions with one another, while enjoying an international dinner of their favorite ethnic dishes. These events provide opportunities to enhance the coexistence process by providing the chance to see traditional clothing, hear different music, and taste delicious cuisines from all over the world.

Delegation Meetings

Throughout each session, hour-long delegation meetings are held weekly. During these meetings, campers meet with their fellow delegates and Delegation Leaders. It is the only time during the week that Seeds of Peace participants can gather as a delegation and speak their native language. At all other times, activities involve campers from all delegations and campers speak English, the common language of Camp.
