"SEEDS OF PEACE CELEBRITY AUCTION" FEATURING MADELEINE K. ALBRIGHT LIVE PERFORMANCE BY HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH ─ Tuesday, February 10, 2004 ─ New York (January 21, 2004) - The Seeds of Peace Young Leadership Committee will present the 6th Annual Bid for Peace Celebrity Auction on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:30pm at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. This year's event will feature former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine K. Albright, and Hootie & The Blowfish will perform live. Honorary Celebrity Host Committee members who are lending their support for the evening include Christine Baranski, Chevy Chase, Billy Crudup, Tovah Feldshuh, Janeane Garofalo, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bebe Neuwirth, Michael Nouri, Roger Rees, Susan Sarandon, Sam Waterston, and Scott Wolf. In addition to the live musical performances and surprise celebrity guests from television, film and sports, the event will feature over 150 premium live and silent auction items (live auction conducted by C. Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby's). Auction highlights include: · "Dream Week" with the New York Yankees · Gourmet dinner party prepared by world-renown chef, Rocco DiSpirito · Birthday party at Dylan's Candy Bar · Private basketball clinic given by stars from the NBA VIP packages start at $2,500; individual VIP tickets are $750. To further advance its objectives, Seeds of Peace has formed the Young Leadership Committee, a New York-based group comprised of young professionals (25-45 years old). Each year, the Young Leadership Committee holds the Bid for Peace Celebrity Auction to raise important funds and expose more people to the work of Seeds of Peace. Last year's event, which raised close to one-million dollars, featured former President Bill Clinton and a live musical performance by The Barenaked Ladies. Since 1993, Seeds of Peace has graduated over 2,000 teenagers representing 22 nations from its internationally recognized conflict-resolution and coexistence program. Through these programs, at the International Camp in Maine and at its Center for Coexistence in Jerusalem, participants develop empathy, respect, communication/negotiation skills, confidence, and hope - the building blocks for peaceful coexistence.
