Coming together through Seeds of Peace, a handful of girls from different conflict regions offer up their suggestions for how you can create a better world by promoting tolerance and understanding in your community.
- Find a pen-pal, either internationally or abroad.
- Start a club, any club (diversity, international, peace organization).
- Learn a foreign language, it's a window to a new culture. This can help you discover cultural similarities.
- Try to get on a foreign exchange program. Start by hosting someone from another country.
- Take a walk around your community and open your eyes to what you haven't seen before. Think about what your interests are and how you can contribute to your neighborhood.
- Volunteer at the local community youth center.
- Read your local newspaper and see if diversity issues are being covered.
- Submit articles to your school or community newspaper about cultural awareness in your city.
- Talk to local bands and ask them to speak about peace and community building at their shows.
- Watch documentary TV shows and movies like Peace of Mind.
- Find organizations like Seeds of Peace.
- Look in the mirror everyday and after seeing how beautiful you are, ask yourself what you have done to make your world a better place.
