New York, NY – The San Francisco Chronicle yesterday published an article about the effectiveness of dialogue programs between Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East - “Few Results Seen from Mideast Teen Peace Camps” by Matthew Kalman.  Seeds of Peace (SOP) was featured prominently in this piece as a leader in youth empowerment and conflict resolution.

In observance of International Peace Day on September 21st, the UN held a Student Observance conference with 800 high school & middle school students and non-profit representatives from the east coast of the US.  Two members of staff and seven Seeds attended the conference which was focused on the theme ‘Peace and Human Rights’ and featured addresses by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UN Messengers of Peace Michael Douglas, Dr. Elie Wiesel, Dr. Jane Goodall, and Ms.

OTISFIELD, Maine (July 23, 2008) – Israeli, Palestinian, Jordanian, Egyptian, and American youth will once again meet as Seeds of Peace opens the second session of its 16th season with a unifying flag-raising ceremony at 8:30 am on Wednesday, July 23rd at the Seeds of Peace International Camp in Otisfield, Maine.  Over 150 campers along with their adult Delegation Leaders will be attending the second session.  For the third consecutive year, many of the Camp’s trained facilitators will be Seeds alumni who have graduated from a professional mediation and conflict ma

OTISFIELD, Maine- Seeds of Peace, which brings together children from countries in conflict, begins its 2008 summer program Tuesday at its lakeside camp in this western Maine town.  Attending the first session will be young Egyptians, Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Indians and Pakistanis.  They will bunk, eat and play together and take part in discussions about regional conflicts.  The camp's goal is to get youngsters to interact and understand the viewpoint of those on the opposite side.  Seeds of Peace was founded 15 years by John Wallach, a foreign correspondent who died in 200

OTISFIELD, Maine - Seeds of Peace, which brings together children from countries in conflict, is getting set to begin its 2008 summer program Tuesday at its camp in the western Maine town of Otisfield. Attending the first session will be young Egyptians, Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Indians and Pakistanis. They'll bunk, eat and play together and take part in discussions about regional conflicts. Seeds of Peace was founded 15 years by John Wallach, a foreign correspondent who died in 2002. Since its founding, the program has brought 4,000 children to the camp.

OTISFIELD -- On a Friday evening early in a Seeds of Peace camp session, a Palestinian boy learned his cousin died from injuries sustained in a clash with an Israeli soldier months earlier. The news spread quickly and anger was palpable as the Israeli delegation emerged from Shabbat services. Counselors separated the Arab and Israeli campers into different buildings. Organizers worried how the situation would affect their ability to bring together children from opposite sides of the Mideast conflict.
