Make a Bequest Through Your Will

There are several options for naming Seeds of Peace in your Will, including:

1) Giving a specific sum or item of property.

2) Giving a percentage of your estate or the residue of your estate (the residue of your estate is that which is left over after all specific gifts have been made, whether charitable or non-charitable).

3) Giving a contingent bequest leaving your bequest to Seeds of Peace should your primary beneficiary have passed.

Bequest Language

The following simple language can be used to make your gift:

1) For a bequest of a specific sum or item of property:
“I give, devise and bequeath to Seeds of Peace Inc., currently located at 370 Lexington Avenue, Suite 2103, New York, NY 10017, the sum of $_______ (or _______ property) for its general purposes.”

2) For a bequest of a percentage of the estate or its residue:
“I give, devise and bequeath to Seeds of Peace Inc., currently located at 370 Lexington Avenue, Suite 2103, New York, NY 10017, _______ percent (or _______ percent of the rest, residue and remainder) of my estate for its general purposes.”

3) For a contingent bequest:
“If any of the above-named beneficiaries should predecease me, I hereby bequeath his or her share to Seeds of Peace Inc., currently located at 370 Lexington Avenue, Suite 2103, New York, NY 10017, to be used for its general purposes.”

Gifts through bequests are used by Seeds of Peace where need is greatest in a given year. Donors are also welcome to specify a bequest for a particular program or division of Seeds of Peace.

A bequest may be included in the body of a will or as an amendment (codicil) to your existing will. Gifts made through a bequest typically provide an estate tax deduction.
