Seeds of Peace campers react to middle east fighting | WGME (CBS)
OTISFIELD (WGME) – Children from war-torn countries, including Palestinian and Israeli children, are in Maine, reacting to the conflict that’s raging on in the Middle East.
Almost 200 teens are at Seeds of Peace camp in Otisfield for the three week program. It involves tough conversations between people from countries that are fighting each other back home. The idea is for them to find peace in Maine and bring what they’ve learned back to their home countries. “It’s pretty hard,” said Nitsan, a camper from Israel. “I really feel the tension here. I think everyone is feeling the tension, but you also feel the urgency of what we’re doing.”
This Seeds of Peace Camp is in its 22nd year. Out of 182 total campers this year, 95 of them are Israeli and Palestinian.
